Marriage

The Sacrament of Marriage

God who is love and who created man and woman for love has called them to love. By creating man and woman he called them to an intimate communion of life and of love in marriage: “So that they are no longer two, but one flesh” (Matthew 19:6). God said to them in blessing “Be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:28).

Preparing for Marriage

You will be required to complete a marriage preparation course and further details of organisations that run these courses will be provided to you.

Arranging a Marriage

Our church is available for weddings only on Saturdays at 1pm.  To arrange a marriage at St. Mel’s Campsie, a minimum of six months’ notice prior to your intended marriage date is required.

Please contact the parish office for initial inquiries of available dates – including arranging the initial meeting with our parish priest.  From there you will be guided by our priest as to what has to happen prior to your marriage taking place.

Documents Required

In your initial meeting with the Parish Priest, you will need to bring the following documents:

  • Your baptismal certificate issued within the last 6 months prior to your wedding (please contact your parish of baptism to acquire a copy)
  • Your birth certificate (full extract of your birth certificate)
  • Two forms of photo identification (passport, driver’s license etc.)
